FINANCE MUSEUM WILL SHOWCASE BUSINESS PRESS
Popular Editor James Grant Curates Exhibit with
Bylines from Top Wall Street Journalists

Financial District, New York City - "Free Markets, Free Press," an exhibition on the history of financial journalism, opens Tuesday, June 27, 2000 with a reception from 4:30 until 7:30 p.m. James Grant, Editor of Grant's Interest Rate Observer, a popular biweekly financial newsletter, guest curated the exhibit.

Leading Wall Street reporters and commentators also contributed narration to the exhibit, including WOR Radio personalities Daria and Ken Dolan; Jonathan Krim, executive editor at TheStreet.com; Dean Rotbart, executive editor and chairman of the TJFR Group; and Jason Zweig, senior writer at Money magazine and a Museum Trustee.

"The capital markets and the financial press grew up side by side here in Lower Manhattan," says Executive Director Brian Thompson. "As more and more Americans turn to the media for financial news and analysis, we're thrilled to give historical perspective to the evolution of this specialized field of journalism."

Highlights of the exhibit include vintage headlines, a timeline tracing the development of the financial press, and a roster of the top business reporters of all time. The Dolans, whose financial call-in show is heard in 200 AM radio markets coast to coast, will periodically broadcast live from the gallery while the exhibit is on display.

Founded 12 years ago, the Museum of American Financial History is the nation's only public museum dedicated to the capital markets and to the nation's economic and business growth. Located in the historic Standard Oil Building in the heart of New York City's Financial District, its holdings include over 10,000 financial documents - including the country's largest collection of 18th century American financial material. The Museum conducts tours and school programs, and publishes Financial History quarterly. "Free Markets, Free Press" will be on exhibit through fall 2000.
