The
Museum, the exchanges, and many of lower Manhattan's firms, businesses
and institutions have reopened in the wake of the September 11 tragedy.
The Museum has resumed its regular hours of operation, Tuesday through
Saturday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Visitors must use the main 26 Broadway
entrance to the building which houses the Museum. The "World of Finance"
walking tour is cancelled until Spring 2002. We regret any inconvenience.
The Museum has installed in the gallery an exhibit, "Bonds of Patriotism," depicting Wall Street's historical rallying in times of national need. The display includes the prospectus and "tombstone" advertisement for the newly issued New York City Recovery Bond. A tablet placed at the entrance to the Museum reads:

The Museum of American Financial History expresses its deepest sympathy to all of our members, neighbors, colleagues, and friends who were affected by the tragedy at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. We mourn the loss of so many exceptional men and women who each contributed to Wall Street's entrepreneurial energy, to New York City's exciting culture, and to America's strength and vitality.
Here in the nation's first capital city and the financial capital of the world, we will remember them as we celebrate the enduring legacy of this place - the freedom and opportunity to live the American dream. | |
